Summary

Military earthworks and structures associated with Blandford Camp during the First and Second World Wars are visible on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery. The features include practice trenches and weapons pits, rifle ranges and rifle butts, gun emplacements, aircraft batteries, several barbed wire entanglements (and possible pillboxes but this is unclear), a Prisoner of War camp, a temporary tented camp and several phases of military accommodation, including some that was used as a military hospital during the latter stages of the Second World War. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Military earthworks and structures associated with Blandford Camp during the First and Second World Wars are visible on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery [1-16]. The features include practice trenches and weapons pits, rifle ranges and rifle butts, gun emplacements, aircraft batteries, several earthwork enclosures, a Prisoner of War camp, a temporary tented camp and several phases of military accommodation, including some that was used as a military hospital during the latter stages of the Second World War. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
