Full Description

Two graves bounded by partial narrow gullies. Skeletal remains destroyed by acidic soils although body stains were apparent in the bases of both. Coffin nails were retrieved from both graves and hobnails found at the foot end (from the soles of boots or shoes, a pagan rite to enable the deceased to walk to the underworld). Also excavated five pits and a stepped rectangular area c. 20m x 25m interpreted as a gravel quarry (1)
